Floyd V. Hutchcraft (my father) entered the Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning business when he went to work for Wilkerson Hardware in 1946. My father, Floyd, later purchased the business from the owner, Bruce Wilkerson, in 1966. At this time Floyd's family, his wife, Etta Mae Hutchcraft, and children were all inducted into the Hardware, Plumbing, Electrical, Heating and Air Conditioning business. I, Roger Hutchcraft, worked summers and before and after school in the family business up until my graduation from high school in 1970.

I left home to attend a small private college in southern Missouri, The College of the Ozarks that following fall. I also served two years in the US Army in the middle of my college education and when I returned I finished my studies and received a Bachelor of Science Degree (Cum Laude) in Industrial Arts and Technology.
After college I went to work for a couple of commercial and institutional firms and then returned home in 1980 to take over the service part of my father's business. My father continued to operate the Hardware Store under the name of WIlkerson Hardware until 2000. I named the service part of the business "Hutch's Home Repair."
I started out in 1980 as the only employee with my wife keeping the books and working from a small shop adjacent to the Hardware Store on the main street of Union Star, Missouri. I moved the main offices of Hutch's Home Repair to its present location at 163 N. 2nd Street in 1984 which is located on the main highway through town. That is when I hired another employee and I have been adding employees since as my business grew. Presently Hutch's NWMO Inc is doing business as Hutch's Heating and Cooling and I have 10 employees with a total combined experience in the field of over 100 years.
Hutch's Heating and Cooling still performs electrical repairs, minor plumbing repairs, and operates a back-hoe for excavations as needed. Our main focus however is Air Conditioning and Heating. Complete with air filters, humidifiers, UV Lights, along with our
outstanding Planned Maintenance Program for upkeep of a homeowner's comfort equipment. We mainly perform services in the

residential field, but we also work in small commercial and institutional areas such as schools and churches. In the last ten years we have completed numerous zoned comfort systems for larger home and institutions.
All of my employees are Freon and Propane certified and trained in all aspects of the home comfort environment. And of course we are fully insured in both liability and workers compensation. My employees and I all wear professional quality uniforms, are well groomed and we treat our customer's homes with respect.Hutch's Heating and Cooling primarily operates within a 50 mile radius of Union Star, Missouri. We go as far north as the Iowa border, south as far as Smithville, east to Jamison and west to Wathena Kansas. An increasing amount of our business is in the St. Joseph area. Our business has been shown an increase due to our reputation and referrals from satisfied customers.
